Story: The Soccer Field Emergency

During a school soccer game, one of the players suddenly collapsed on the field. The coach ran over and saw that the boy wasn’t breathing well. A nurse who was watching nearby rushed to help.

She checked his temperature with a thermometer and realized he had a high fever. Then, she quickly pulled out a syringe from her first aid kit to give him medicine.

Suddenly, the boy’s heartbeat stopped. Thankfully, the school had a defibrillator nearby. She used it immediately — “Clear!” — and after one strong shock, the boy’s heart started beating again.

Moments later, the paramedics arrived. They carefully lifted him onto a stretcher and carried him to the ambulance.

His best friend had hurt his leg while running to help, so he had to use crutches for a few days. Meanwhile, the nurse used tweezers to remove a splinter from his hand.

By the next week, both boys were back at school — a little shaken, but safe and smiling.

스토리: 축구장에서 일어난 응급 상황

학교 축구 경기가 한창이던 중, 선수 한 명이 갑자기 경기장에 쓰러졌어요.
코치가 달려가 보니, 그 아이는 제대로 숨을 쉬지 못하고 있었죠.

근처에서 경기를 지켜보던 간호사가 황급히 달려와 도와주었어요.
그녀는 체온계(thermometer) 로 아이의 체온을 재봤고, 고열이라는 걸 알게 되었어요.
그러자 그녀는 응급 키트에서 주사기(syringe) 를 꺼내 약을 주입했어요.

그런데 갑자기 아이의 심장 박동이 멈췄어요.
다행히도 학교에는 제세동기(defibrillator) 가 있었고, 그녀는 재빨리 그것을 사용했어요.
“물러나세요!”라는 외침과 함께 전기 충격을 주자, 아이의 심장은 다시 뛰기 시작했죠.

잠시 후, 구급대원들이 도착했고, 조심스럽게 아이를 들것(stretcher) 에 실어 구급차로 옮겼어요.

그 아이의 절친은 도와주러 달려오다 다리를 다쳐서 며칠 동안 목발(crutches) 을 사용해야 했어요.
그 사이 간호사는 아이의 손에 박힌 가시를 핀셋(tweezers) 으로 빼주었답니다.

다음 주가 되자, 두 아이 모두 학교에 돌아왔어요.
조금 놀란 마음은 있었지만, 두 사람 모두 무사했고, 웃으며 돌아왔죠.
